Sports Day

Well, well, well, it is time for our annual Catholic High Sports Day again! Undeterred by the hot weather, our newly elected drum major, Wai Cong Bo leads the band and the house marchers into the field, signaling the start of Sports Day. Two songs were played that day, namely “Perro Caliente” and “Hujan di Tengahari” as our band members march into the field with high spirits.

Back from Hong Kong 2.0

Here are some photos of our preparation for Winter Band Festival and our performance in adjudication! Unforgettable as they are, we are really thankful to all the guidance and help that have been offered. The gold medal has set a benchmark for our standard and we are ready to soar to higher skies.

Back from Hong Kong!

Touring the world with your family, does that sounds exciting? Now, how about doing that with your friends? That is exactly what we did!

Oh yes, we won the GOLD AWARD in this competition, which was participated by bands from a total of 6 countries.

Not just that, we are given the opportunity to perform at Hong Kong Disneyland and visit some famous sites, such as the Victoria Peak. On the second day, we did a Band Exchange Programme with Raimondi College Wind Orchestra, Hong Kong and played "Adventure Tale of Neverland" together as a 100 member band! Without doubt, this wouldn’t be possible without our band tutor, Sir Eric Lee who has gone the extra mile to guide us. May we take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude towards him and our parents who gave us their support.

Band Exchange

Music has no boundaries. Bearing the diversity of cultures, we had a band exchange with Jurong West Symphonic Band from Singapore who was on their overseas field trip on 21th of November 2015. Despite originating from different countries, we are proud to say that our members get along very well, exchanging knowledge and understanding each other’s culture. We performed a total of 5 pieces and played Meghan Trainor’s hits “All About that Bass” together.

Donning smart marching uniform, our members performed at Taman Jaya on the 3rd of October 2015 in conjunction with the Pesta Tanglong held by Pejabat Adun Bukit Gasing. Despite the hazy weather, our members were high in spirit as they rocked the audience with Perro Caliente and Abba Gold. Another Doctor in the house!

As we strived to improve ourselves continuously, we were really enthusiastic when given the opportunity to attend music workshops given by experienced musicians. The doctor in question is Dr. Ralph Hultgren, who is a famous Australian trumpet player and composer. He paid us a visit on the 23rd of October 2015 and conducted a music workshop with the whole band. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude towards Dr. Ralph and Sir Eric who made this workshop an educational and unforgettable one.
